Accounting Clerk I

Performs a variety of routine and some non-routine clerical/accounting functions
in accordance with standard procedures in one or more of the following areas:
general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable or related financial
area. Applies basic skills and procedures appropriate for the position within
assigned functional area. Duties and tasks are standardized. Resolves routine
questions and problems. Works under direct supervision and follows standard
procedures to accomplish assigned tasks. ? Posts information and balances
general or subsidiary ledgers.

? Processes payments and compiles segments of monthly closings, annual
reports, etc.

? Contacts other departments and/or outside agencies to resolve problems.

? Performs accounts payable processes, including maintaining records of
amounts owed, verifying invoices, computing discounts, coding expenses,
preparing vouchers, issuing checks for payment, and maintaining all inventory
accounts.

? Types imprest checks, gets appropriate signatures and completes
documentation.

? Prepares invoices to customers reviewing quantity and price for compliance
with order.

? Processes invoices for accounts receivable including: cash receipts,
claims, and overdue invoices.

? Maintains accounting of finished goods inventory.

? May also reconcile and process hourly plant payroll.
