Financial Analyst-Planning & Analysis

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The FP&A department is responsible for coordinating all business intelligence (ad hoc analyses, decision support systems and management reporting), budgeting, forecasting and capital expenditure management activities for this $1 billion vertically integrated business with several product lines.  The specific responsibilities include:

? Manage the preparation of the product line and consolidated Period Financial Report and analyze results versus prior year and plan

? Coordinate the consolidation of the monthly financial forecasts, challenge assumptions and help develop processes to improve forecasting of discrete itemsAssist in period-end activities including allocations, accruals and reclassification journal entriesAssist department finance managers with developing and managing analytical support systems and processes to improve decision making such as sales promotions effectiveness, product and customer profitability analysis, and least-cost production planning, etc.Prepare consolidated Periodic Financial Reporting and consolidated plant Operations ReportsWork closely with operations finance mangers across all product lines to maintain consistency in management reportingAssist in preparation of annual budgets for various business units and supporting cost centersAssist in developing the capital expenditure plan, estimating return on investments on discrete projects and performing post completion audits to verify that all investments meet their stated objectives

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION: 

EDUCATION:  B.S. in Business, Accounting or Finance required, MBA a plus

 

EXPERIENCE:  Minimum of four years financial reporting and analysis experience.

 

SKILLS:  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Advanced MS Excel experience is required.  Experience with Access and Cognos PowerPlay or similar OLAP tools.  Familiarity with AS400 or mainframe systems desirable.  Knowledge of J.D. Edwards or an equivalent G/L system preferred.  Strong analytical ability with attention to detail.
