Mortgage/Banking Technical Accountant

 

 

Parker & Lynch Executive Recruiting Services is seeking a Mortgage/Banking Technical Accountant  who is responsible for maintaining, analyzing and reconciling the FAS 91 (deferred loan origination fees and costs), mortgage servicing rights, FAS 133 (derivatives), FAS 140 (securitizations, sales and/or financings) and other accounting transactions that have been determined to be of a more complex nature.  Also responsible for assisting the CFO, CAO and Controller in researching, interpreting and recommending changes to related accounting policies and procedures based on regulations and pronouncements issued by outside bodies including the Financial Accounting Standards Board, Securities and Exchange Commission, and others.

 

Educational, Certification and Experience Requirements:CPA with 2 to 4 years progressive experience in technical accounting, with emphasis in mortgage banking transactions.Degree in Accounting or Finance from an Accredited 4-Year UniversityExceptional planning, interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills with ability to develop and execute programs, policies and proceduresDetail-oriented with excellent follow-up skills, self-motivation and team player attitudeAbility to interact professionally with individuals from various professional backgroundsAbility to maintain the confidentiality and security of sensitive informationWe prefer someone with Non-prime Mortgage Banking experiencePrevious experience with JD Edwards is a plus.

 

 

Job Responsibilities Consist of:The accounting surrounding mortgage loan portfolios, loan purchases, sales and securitizations, assuring consistency and compliance with GAAP and FASB, including but not limited to the following:Responsible for the recording of monthly activity related to loans sold in securitizations accounted for as financings.Responsible for the determination of level yield amortization for FAS 91 deferred fees related to securitizations accounted for as financings, as well as the periodic analysis of actual prepayment speeds to expected prepayment speeds and any resulting true-ups.Responsible for the recording of mark-to-market adjustments for derivative instruments (both with and without hedge accounting election under FAS 133).Responsible for periodic updates to FAS 91 cost studies.Develop, maintain and update related Accounting policies and procedures, including those relating to FAS 140 activities.Receive and resolve inquiries from Financial Analysts regarding monthly financial results concerning technical accounting transactions.Assist in the preparation of supporting schedules and analysis of financial information for year-end audits by independent parties.Handle confidential material related to Company transactions and financial results and disseminate such information with appropriate discretion.Enhance customer service through promotion of service-oriented approach within all functional areas
