Senior Compliance Accountant

– Monitors the regulatory environment and emerging regulations and issues affecting accounting standards, including those developed by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Emerging Issues Task Force (EITF), National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), and all other relevant governing bodies

–  Creates awareness of emerging standards by disseminating information to management; outlining the impact of Aflac?s current and emerging accounting and reporting practices; develops recommendations for adoption of emerging accounting and reporting standards for GAAP and SAP and solicits comments; participates in and represents compliance on various project teams as assigned including acting as lead when warranted

–  Gathers information from various areas of the company and summarizes the technical impact for divisions directly affected by emerging standards and the impact on their operations; works with management throughout the company, ensuring that implementation is completed accurately and efficiently

–  Assists in coordinating, documenting, and testing for compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements; conducts test plans for related SOX cycles; interprets policies and identifies control point; determines compliance and appropriate courses of action; tracks remediation plans and communicates key issues to appropriate management

 

 

?  Bachelor?s degree in accounting/finance or a related field and or an equivalent combination of education and experience

?  Requires 2-6 years experience or combination of academic achievements and business experience sufficient to perform primary duties and demonstrate candidate characteristics

?  Sarbanes-Oxley experience preferred

?  Prefer previous relevant experience with a Big Four accounting firm

?  Prefer CPA, CMA, CIA, CISA or other relevant certification
