Senior Cost Accountant

Company searching for Cost Accountant, Travel (estimated at 15%).

The Senior Cost Accountant will plan and direct inventory accounting activities within the finance department by personally performing the following duties.

1) Develop, implement and manage a standard cost accounting system
2) Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to inventory
3) Preparation of month end closing entries and inventory related account reconciliations
4) Lead in the planning and coordination of quarterly inventory observations with the operations department;
5) Directs the maintenance of the inventory subsidiary ledger for multiple locations;
6) Develops procedures to improve the current existing systems;
7) Assists in SOX compliance efforts and internal audits involving review of accounting and general controls surrounding inventory;
8) Responds to questions and provides assistance in analyzing gross margins.
9) Examines and reviews unusual cost records and ensures cost data accurately accounted for.
10) plans and performs analyses related to cost of goods and inventory

11) Special projects and ad hoc account analysis as necessary;
12) Other duties as assigned by the CFO and Controller.


Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, and a minimum of five (5) years of cost accounting experience, but preferably eight years. In depth knowledge of GAAP.

CPA certificate, Pharmaceutical or cosmetic industry experience and experience with MAS 200 a plus.

Ideal candidate will be a team player with excellent oral and written communication skills. The candidate should also be able to work independently and proactively to carry out assignments. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MAS 200 Accounting software or similar ERP system.. Superior knowledge of Excel required. Ability to identify and extract data for analysis and modeling purposes. Ability to use query based programs such as ACL or Access and understand data structures.
