Sr. Accountant

Job Description: Job Responsibilities Sr. Accountant is responsible for preparing monthly merchandise cost of sales (COS) reports, researching variances to plan and theoretical cost, and presenting the results at the monthly financial statement review meetings with Senior Finance Management. Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations. Prepare and communicate weekly COS Flash reporting. Prepare detailed inventory reserve analysis on a quarterly basis. Provide support and ad hoc reporting to Merch line of business and Merch Finance to assist them with analysis of food and beverage inventories and costs. Maintain the integrity of the information within Island Pacific (sub-ledger) and SAP (G/L). Other responsibilities as required.

Ensure Cost of Sales (COS) is accurately recorded at month-end. Perform tasks such as recording journal entries, reconciling IP to SAP, preparing monthly COS reports, researching variances to plan and presenting financial results at the financial statement review meetings. Provide excellent customer service by consistent, open communication with Merchandise Finance Department. Strive to obtain a full understanding of the complexities of the merchandise business. Prepare ad hoc analysis to supplement their understanding and facilitate decision making opportunities (such as obsolescence analyses). Make suggestions on improvements to the internal control environment.

Seek out opportunities for Inventory Accounting to become involved to ensure that the accounting and internal controls are assessed adequately. Prepare ad hoc analysis as needed and participate in special projects. Ensure accuracy of general supplies and fabric inventories, including revaluations, reserve analysis and reconciliation to detailed inventory ledgers. Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the Merchandise inventory system (i.e. IP) and investigate opportunities for efficiencies in the task performed.



Required Qualifications
B.A.B/S in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred.
3-5 years relevant work experience
Strong computer skills, in particular Word, Excel and Access. Knowledge of SAP, CBORD a plus.
Strong accounting knowledge, in particular cost accounting and internal control best practices.
Experience in food operations a plus.
Strong oral and written communications skills.
Ability to express complex issues in a logical, concise manner.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to develop customer respect and trust and be perceived as a valued member of their team.
