Job Description

Major Responsibilities:

This position will assist the in-depth financial and strategic analysis of major business investment opportunities and operational alternatives for PDMC's ongoing operations. In addition, it will provide business and financial/ analytical support to a numerous Phelps Dodge Mining Company departments. This support will be for their new technology, asset replacement, new product/ growth initiatives and the economic evaluation of major capital projects/ liability management opportunities.

The performance of these tasks will frequently require the development and utilization of complex financial models. Significant collaboration with financial and technical personnel, as well as management throughout the company will be necessary. Those interested should have good analytical skills in dealing with details, the ability to address issues on the strategic level, and a solid foundation in accounting/financial statement analysis.

1. Perform or assist in the review of major capital expenditure requests, post completion evaluations and operating strategy economic analysis for PDMC, and review, prepare or assist in the preparation of submissions to management for approval.
2. Develop financial models and templates for evaluating projects and assist in life-of-mine financial modeling, review and consolidation.
3. Assist in the preparation of slides for management presentations and reports and develop/compile comprehensive documentation.
4. Direct or assist in the tracking of the status, economic metrics and related information on the company's strategic growth projects.
5. Assist in or coordinate special operational analyses for senior PDMC management decision making.
6. Assist in training of financial evaluation techniques and help coordinate the team's web services site for policies, procedures and other activities.

Minimum Requirements:

* BS/BA degree in accounting or finance or, alternatively, an engineering degree with significant financial analysis and business experience or equivalent.
* Experience of 4+ years in financial and operational analysis of projects, preferably in mining or a closely related industry.
* Excellent understanding of financial analysis tools and theory, especially IRR, NPV and value creation principles with a strong understanding of accounting and tax-related aspects of financial analysis.
* Good understanding of mining and mineral processing practices and methods, and a solid understanding of the industry competitive environment and general business issues.
* Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Advanced Excel skills with the ability to handle large, complex and linked spreadsheets.
* Very good knowledge of Word and PowerPoint.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and written and oral communication skills.
* Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Bachelor's, MBA or related advanced business degree (i.e., Mineral Economics or related field)
* CPA
* Knowledge of ERP systems

Criteria/Conditions (specific background and skills):

* Position is in busy, non-smoking office located in downtown Phoenix, AZ.
* Location requires mobility in an office environment; each floor is accessible by elevator.
* Some travel, including internationally to remote locations, is required.
* Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
