Component Sourcing Specialist

The position will involve identification and resolution of component and raw material challenges, specific to availability assurance and cost reductions.The role of the sourcing specialist requires teaming with engineering and quality organization members in evaluating supplier support capability and total costs of acquisition.The position will require a command of electronic components with regard to manufacturers, market channels, industry nomenclature and terminology, and current costing models.Responsibilities will include interaction with Avocent's contract manufacturers in sourcing and securing component material shortages; assisting Avocent efforts in forming global pricing agreements with component distributors for use by Avocent's CM's; verification of CM purchase patterns and volumes as outlined in existing and future agreements; identifying component qualifications and aggregate spends in order to maximize negotition leverage. ***And other duties as assigned or needed.***


Experience and Skills:
A minimum of 3 years of component purchasing in a manufacturing environment, component engineering, component distribution or sales.Must demonstrate expertise in Microsoft Excel, with strong skills in other standard Microsoft Office products.Experience in broad scale ERP systems is a must, with SAP experience strongly favored.Experience in Agile or a comparable PLM software tool is required.Experience in or with a contract manufacturing organization is a plus.A BS degree in business or a technical discipline is preferred.
