Principal Engineer

The Honeywell Engines, Systems & Services division has an immediate opening in Tucson for a Principal Engineer.  This position is responsible and accountable for successful planning, development and implementation of a large program to fulfill contract and business requirements within approved budgeted cost and schedule constraints. 

 

Responsibilities

 Responsible for the financial success of Electronic Controls Product Line business.Lead strategic business planning activity for a large, complex development program and lead others in the planning process.Recognize pertinent information regarding program profitability using financial analysis capabilities and act on new business opportunities.Effectively communicate program status to key stakeholders.Lead the program pursuit strategies, strategic planning and proposal pricing activities for the Engine Control development programs.Provide strong technical/program leadership to drive Engine Control technology development.Develop product line strategy for minimizing product development costs, recurring cost and cycle time, and maximizing product quality and reliability across the entire product portfolio including fuel controls and sensors.Accountable for key program metrics.Manage performance related to program execution with strict adherence to the IPDS process and support performance management development process.Identify resource needs and coordinate with engineering managers for resources to staff the development programs.Establish and maintain necessary channels of communication, assuring total customer and Product Line awareness including key elements such as customer relations and timely recognition and resolution of potential problems.

 

Qualifications

 Bachelors Degree, Advanced degree preferred.Sixteen years of experience in one or more functional areas, including experience leading a large development program.Five years experience in building and leading cross-functional teams.Program Management Professional Certification preferred.Greenbelt/Blackbelt certification desired.DFSS certification desired.

 

Additional Qualifications

 Able to effectively deal with customers in difficult situations, build meaningful business relationships and influence customers expectations.Possess a complete understanding of the business measurement tools used to assess program health and financial status.Has experience with complex product development programs and cross-functional team leadership incorporating all functional disciplines for successful execution.Develops and promotes a strong team environment and continually finds ways for the team to face and deal with challenging program issues.
