Sheetmetal Mechanic

?  HS Diploma or Equivalent

?  Good math skills

?  Previous Blue Print Reading training

?  2-3 years prior experience working with sheet-metal in an aircraft manufacturing environment

?  Experience with various hand and air tools

?  Good interpersonal and organizational skills

?  Ability to work in a team environment

?  Ability to accomplish tasks to schedule requirements without immediate supervision or direction.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

?  Read and understand written planning documents.

?  Understand the requirements of Engineering specifications in processes or on Blueprints.

?  Knowledge of SSAC blueprints (DCN?s and EO?s) and their relationship to the task at hand.

?  Knowledge and ability to use or work through issues involved with the assembly tooling provided.  Includes fitment of detailed parts into the tools, understanding jig-locked conditions, and removal of assemblies from the tools.

?  Awareness to retrieve and use the proper hand tools for the given job.

?  Ability and desire to work safely, with proper care given toward the environment and your fellow workers.

?  Ability to communicate problems, concerns, or issues with fellow workers and management.

?  Ability to layout hole patterns with regard to edge distance and tolerances.

?  Ability to drill holes in material without the drill bit walking or elongation of the penetrations.

?  Ability to shoot and/or buck rivets with a 95% success rate, the first time.

?  Ability to drill close-tolerance holes and install fasteners to specification.

?  Ability to mix and apply the proper sealant and promoter to achieve the end product as called out by specification.

?  Ability and desire to keep up with necessary planning paperwork for selling of jobs to inspectors.

?  Ability and desire to work with people in a team atmosphere to achieve goals.

?  The understanding to accurately document discrepant work, design, or materials in order for other departments to provide dispositions.

?  Understanding ancillary duties in documenting time sheets, checking of pick-lists for lot numbers, and writing tool squawks.
