GIS/GPS Field Data Coordinator

Osmose Utilities Services, Incorporated, an employee-owned company and a nationwide leader in contract utility work, has an immediate need for a Field Data Coordinator within our GIS/GPS Field Data Collection business. Osmose is a strong, diversified, growing company that has prospered since 1934. This position is responsible for coordinating the flow of data, as well as providing training and support to and from field GIS/GPS Technicians and Foremen.  Additionally, this position assists the Manager-Operations and Project Manager-Operations with the production of field data to support the required deliverable to the customer.  Responsibilities include:

 Operations: Manage the complete data flow process from receiving and preparing customer data to field collection to processing so that it is efficient, accurate and timely.  Help conduct extensive job set-up as it relates to data flow before starting work.  Compute and receive data from the customer and prepare it for use in the field by Technicians and Foremen. Field Equipment: Master a solid understanding of required HandHeld computer units, including their operation and data collection software. Work Packets: Coordinate and assign work packets to Technicians and Foremen; monitor work progress; create progress/status reports on a regular basis. Training: Travel to project locations to train and support Osmose field personnel as needed in various data collection capabilities, including overhead facility recognition and inventory, data download and transmit, and use and care of all required hardware for the project. QA/QC: Review and understand all field and statistical sampling requirements for a customer-specific project. Must have the ability to effectively communicate procedures to customers, field staff, Technicians and Foremen. Customer Relations: Participate in regularly scheduled progress meetings with the customer, Osmose, and outside vendor personnel. Communications: Communicate with field staff on a weekly basis regarding work assignments, progress and quality.  Work in an efficient and cooperative manner with Project Managers, Project Delivery Teams, field staff and field crews.

 

Qualified candidates must have an aptitude for math and possess outstanding organizational, communication and work processing skills.  Must be able to substantiate previous supervisory and technical experience.  Must also be willing to travel overnight, work varied hours, and when necessary, temporarily relocate to specific project locations to achieve desired results.

 

A minimum of two years of experience in field data services inventory operations or equivalent is required.  A two or four year degree in GIS, GPS, Geography, Surveying, or similar studies is preferred.
