Terminal Supervisor I (Meredosia)

Reporting to the Superintendent, U.S. Ammonia Terminals this position is responsible for managing all activities in the Meredosia terminal to ensure the safe and efficient manufacture, receipt, storage, and distribution of products.

 

Specific responsibilities will include:

 

? Ensuring the cost effective operation and maintenance of the terminal (developing expense budgets and monitoring results to ensure effectiveness);

? Coordinating with Marketing and production facilities to ensure timely and effective supply and customer service (involves coordinating raw material supply for manufacturing of products and scheduling of production runs).  Also, providing input on market trends from a local level;

? Ensuring the security of all company assets at the terminal;

? Providing advice and technical expertise to distribution;

? Developing short and longer-term objectives for the terminals that support Marketing?s and Agrium?s business objectives;

? Establishing and monitoring safe and efficient practices for manufacture, unloading, reclaiming, and shipping of all fertilizer products to meet market requirements;

? Continuously implementing improvements in equipment, processes, procedures and safety that have a positive impact on the effectiveness and efficiency of the terminals;

? Planning and monitoring operations and maintenance activities on a daily basis and corrects deviations from established standards as they occur;

? Planning and ensuring the status of both equipment and manpower resources to meet the need of the market lifting forecast;

? Providing input into the capital budget;

? Consulting on the development of capital projects and acting as the site supervisor during implementation;

? Stewarding the Community Outreach program at the terminal, promoting and maintaining enduring relationships with neighbors, supporting community programs, and generally ensuring the Agrium name is respected in the community;

? Creating good working relationships with the logistic suppliers at the local level, and establishing supply schedules with them through timely meetings and assisting in resolving deviations from the plans;

? Interfacing on a regular basis with dealers, agents and carriers and maintaining a good working relationship with them (providing technical expertise when required);

? Investigating complaints regarding product quality and making recommendations and formulating corrective actions in a timely manner;

? Ensuring that all regulatory permits, licenses, and inspections are current;

? Creating respected relationships with representatives of regulatory bodies, inspection agencies, local and state government, local police, and emergency services; 

? Maintaining knowledge of changes to regulations surrounding transportation, occupational health, and safety, labor, etc., and ensuring that the appropriate upgrades are made to ensure compliance with the regulations;

? Responsible for the development, maintenance and documenting of operational and advanced training programs for regular employees.  Also, responsible for the training and response capabilities for onsite emergencies and for ensuring trained personnel are available for Transportation Emergency Team support;

? Assuming responsibilities, as required, for the Transportation Emergency Operations Center;

? Providing leadership to the terminal employees in the areas of morale, skill development, continuous improvement, and personnel issues.  Also, responsible for the hiring and training of site employees.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience for this position include:

 

? Minimum of 10 years of related experience, with sound knowledge of operations and maintenance in a production or terminal facility.  Also, 3 - 5 years of management and leadership experience;

? The ideal candidate would possess a Power Engineering certificate or a Journeyman Maintenance certificate, or equivalent;

? Basic business skills to develop and evaluate results are essential; 

? Sound current knowledge of environmental, health and safety, and labor regulations in the jurisdiction; 

? Effective communication and interpersonal skills to deal with people at all levels, both within and outside the organization; 

? Strong leadership skills are required to work directly with a small semi-autonomous team and with various segments of the organization.
