Staff Manager Corporate Purchasing Hotels

Northwest Airlines is looking for a Staff Manager Corporate Purchasing to join our Materials Management team.  This position is responsible for negotiation and administration of NWA hotel contracts worldwide.  The Staff Manager-Hotel Commodity develops procurement strategies to minimize the hotel expense while meeting corporate objectives for crew hotels, distressed passenger hotels and corporate travel hotels.  Total annual expenditure is $50M.

 

This position sources, bids, negotiates, administers and manages purchasing and supplier relations for NWA.  Review proposals, select/recommend suppliers, analyze trends and maintain accurate records.  Must ensure products and services offer consistent quality, reliability and availability to meet required schedules.  Develop and implement sourcing and vendor management strategies to maximize the value of sourced commodities.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Comprehensive knowledge of supplier management and procurement processes.  Ability to interact with multiple levels of internal and external contacts.  Self motivated.  Process flow and process improvement, information technology/e-commerce skills.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.  Proficient knowledge of PC skills and mainframe data warehouse skills.

 

Qualifications (Education/Experience):

Four year degree in Business/Finance or related field or eight years related work experience; and three or more years material management/corporate purchasing experience or related business analysis experience, or MBA in Finance/Supply Chain Management.  Demonstrated negotiation skills, contract management skills, oral and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving skills, leadership skills with the ability to implement solutions across organizations, proficient PC skills.
