Job Description:

 

Design modern and well-functioning products for the office seating/desking/lighting/furniture industry. Create and communicate new innovative customer-driven concepts aligned with the product strategy and brand positioning. Participate on cross-functional product development teams, interface with engineering, marketing, operations, and customers. Demonstrate a proactive hands-on approach, utilize a variety of techniques to solve problems and validate ideas. Manage all aspects of the design process, such as, but not limited to, assessing customer requirements, overseeing the creation of prototypes, and continuous involvement through product launch.

 

Specific Skills:

 

*Relevant and extensive Industrial Design experience.

*A strong background in Product Development.

*Good visual and conceptual skills.

*Design research methodology and critical thinking processes.

*Ability to brainstorm creatively and articulate ideas.

*A solid mechanical aptitude and knowledge of manufacturing metal and plastic materials processes.

*Ergonomics expertise, and experience designing products involving customer/user interaction.

*Attention to detail and thoroughness of approach.

*Computer literate in PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Rhino 3-D, Autodesk Viz (3D Studio Max), Photo Shop

 

 

Accountability:

 

1. Meet deadlines and requirements established by VP of R&D

2. Provides design deliverables to Sales as needed

3. Provide design drawings and specifications to sample shop/ manufacturing. 

 

 

Qualifications:

 

 

Education and Experience:

 

1. Education ? Bachelors Degree in Industrial Design

2. Experience ? Industry experience in RTA furniture design and manufacturing.

 

 

Skills and Abilities:

 

1. Computer literate in PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Rhino 3-D, Autodesk Viz (3D Studio Max), Photo Shop

2. Ability to multi-task effectively

3. Ability to manage time efficiently

4. Exceptional Organization skills

5. Communicate effectively across cultural barriers

6. Ability to work well with others

7. Attention to detail

8. Deadline Oriented
