Landscape Architect

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: A California State Certificate to practice Landscape Architecture.

POSITION INFORMATION:  A Landscape Architect works in a multi disciplinary architectural engineering environment performing various landscape architectural tasks for the County of Los Angeles and the
Department of Public Works facilities.  This position will be assigned to diverse projects such as:

* County capital projects, e.g. Parks and Recreation, Beaches and Harbor, County Hospitals, Transportation, Civic Centers, etc.

* Public Works road right-of-way projects, e.g. median island, parkway landscaping

* Public Works Watershed/Flood right-of-way projects, e.g. rivers, channels, spreading grounds and debris basins.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: A Landscape Architect is responsible for performing the following essential job functions:
1) prepares conceptual and schematic plans, design development and construction document packages, including specifications and construction cost estimates;
2) reviews design documents prepared by outside consultants;
3) prepares narrative programs, scope of work and budget estimates;
4) serves as project landscape architect by coordinating design and site construction projects with other disciplines, e.g. project managers, architects, engineers, inspectors, utility coordinators, etc.;
5) functions as consultant to other divisions, County departments, agencies and cities for landscape and environmental projects providing technical and aesthetic input;
6) reviews standards, guidelines, and procedures proposed for County and Department wide site/landscaping/street/watershed projects;
7) and provides technical expertise to the Department of Public Works Watershed, Road and Flood Maintenance divisions.
