FACILITIES MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

SUMMARY

 

Under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor, the Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for all maintenance of Long Beach Transit facilities and equipment. The position involves a combination of hands-on repairs and maintenance of shop and office facilities, as well as the supervision of custodians.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

? Serves as point of contact for all facilities and equipment maintenance, defects and repair work.

? Performs scheduled maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment, including heating/air conditioning system, compressed air distribution system, petroleum products distribution system, bus wash equipment, industrial waste handling/disposal system, safety/video and security equipment, and electrical system, including 480 volt 3 Phase.

? Oversees work in detail of custodians, including janitorial duties, HVAC contractor, telephone equipment company, utility companies, landscape contractor and pest control contractor.

? Maintains facilities records including equipment repairs, permits and facilities plan. Review utility invoices.

? Performs minor facility renovation/remodeling.

? Must obtain UST Operator Certification within 6 months of hire.

? Performs other duties as necessary.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Minimum high school diploma education or equivalent; AA degree in electrical or related field desirable; minimum 3 years experience in technical trade of facilities maintenance work; able to work with a variety of people; able to read and write English. Additional experience may substitute for educational requirements. Provide a current (within 30 days) DMV H-6 print out of your driving record (available from the Department of Motor Vehicles office).

 SALARY STRUCTURE

 

GRADE 10 - $3,700 to $4,534 per month (DOQ). Fringe benefits include paid vacation, family medical/dental/vision/life insurance, tuition reimbursement, employee assistance, retirement plan, deferred compensation, and other benefits.
