Job Overview

? The .NET Application Developer designs, builds, tests, implements and maintains applications in support of the company?s business needs; collaborate with project team members to define external partner/internal customer requirements and system interfaces, assess available technologies, and develop/present solutions, this position reports to the VP of Technology.

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

? Work with lateral peers as well as exec team to interpret the business needs and processes of internal customers, identify potential uses for information technologies. Work with internal customers to define application scope and objectives, developing databases and applications to support the customers? needs.

? Participate in technical design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of new applications as well as enhancements.

? Work with IT to plan and requisition necessary hardware/connectivity for applications as well as design/implement application security plans as needed.

? Plan, design, schedule and conduct application usability tests; monitoring test results and taking corrective actions.

? Assist Network Engineers and systems administration team in installation and implementation of servers and in systems planning and monitoring.

? Support and troubleshoot applications, optimizing performance, resolving production problems, and providing timely follow-up on problem reports.

? Stay abreast of changing information technologies to ensure leading-edge interpretation and execution of design applications.

? Provide technical consultation in new systems development and enhancement of existing systems; participating in structured walkthroughs and technical reviews.

? Design information access and retrieval systems.  Use scripting languages, middleware translators, and other utilities, for designing application links to databases and 3rd party systems.

? Create and execute database migration plans as needed.

? Develop and execute planning for maximum database retrieval efficiency and security.

? Support production systems as required; optimizing performance, resolving production problems and providing timely follow-up on problem reports. Monitor and control infrastructure performance in the areas of response, throughput, and availability.

? Participate in development projects to provide technical direction and training to personnel. Train business owners to use tools.

 

Experience and Education Requirements: 

 

? 5 ? 10 years experience in software development, installation, and modifications is required to include 2 to 3 years of .NET development experience, 3 to 5 years of database development/administration transactions.

?Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science or Engineering preferred, equivalent experience considered.

? A firm understanding of information technologies (development process tools, IDEs, compilers, debuggers, profilers, version control systems, code coverage, automated testing tools, installations/configurations/performance, and application security) with a focus on the Microsoft .NET Framework and its attendant tools.  Proficiency with Visual Basic.NET IDE required.

? Working knowledge and skills in the .NET object-oriented programming languages (C#, VB.NET); mastery of basic scripting languages (Javascript, VBScript, HTML/DHTML) and presentation technologies (Windows Forms, ASP.NET).

? Mastery of relational database systems with a focus on SQL Server implementations.  Working knowledge of data modeling techniques and associated languages (SQL, T-SQL, XML).

? Experience with distributed systems design and implementation with an emphasis on Web Services.

? Working knowledge of network protocols and services.

? Application design and development experience.

? Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills.

? Strong desire to provide excellent service to our internal customers.

? A strong focus on personal accountability and responsibility.

? Ability to multi-task.

? Good oral and written communication skills; ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, is persuasive, and gains understanding.
