Manager - IS Operations

Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives. Conducts business process analyses, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefit analyses in an effort to align information technology solutions with business initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
? Understands the business areas supported to determine specific business requirements. Supports multiple business areas.
? Conducts studies and works with user management regarding the development of new information systems to meet current and projected complex business needs.
? Leads large, complex, more important projects or more than one project, including planning; assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work; evaluating results, etc.
? Responsible for taking projects from original concept to final implementation.
? Ensures adherence to quality standards and review project deliverables.
? Writes descriptions of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify systems.
? Initiates, writes, and seeks agreement to policies, standards, and procedures that ensure optimal use of the department?s strategy.
? Analyzes user requirements, procedures, and problems to improve or create complex systems.
? Develops procedures to solve problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operation time, and form of desired results.
? Contributes to and directs the preparation, and follow-up of proposals and recommendations for management and/or users.
? Analyzes processes to support both non-computerized and computerized workflow, including recommending technologies that can enhance the effectiveness of the process.
? Prepares project-phase plans and implementation schedules, plans and conducts meeting and workshops relative to these project plans, and communicates project status reporting to all levels of management.
? Recommends and takes action to direct the analysis and solutions of project issues.
? Provides technical leadership and/or business expertise to subordinates and peers on complex projects by evaluating and recommending appropriate development tools.
? Acts as liaison with other departments, divisions, and organizations.
? Develops and maintains business relationships and integrates activities with other IT business units/areas to ensure successful implementation and support of project efforts.
? Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
? Trains junior level personnel in technical complexities of assigned work.
? May assist with the review and evaluation of personnel performance.
? May mentor junior level personnel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
? Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science, Business Administration, MIS, Mathematics, or Engineering from four-year college or university, plus 5 to 8 years of experience, MBA/Master's degree preferred; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
SKILLS
? Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
? Computer skill requirements include: Intermediate MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access and MS PowerPoint.
? Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
? Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
? Ability to operate with substantial latitude for unreviewed action or decision.
? Ability to effectively present ideas to Sr. Management via discussions and/or presentations.
? Ability to influence others.
? Ability to effectively deal with political issues.
? Ability to be self-directed and impose standards of excellence regarding performance.
? Must posses solid management skills and a working knowledge of project management tools.
? Possess and applies comprehensive knowledge of this particular field of specialization to the completion of difficult assignments.
? Possesses negotiation and conflict resolution skills as well as managing customer expectations.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 
Position is responsible for strategy and overall performance for global desktop technologies for winery computer users. Manages hardware and software components utilized throughout enterprise to balance optimal user productivity with lowest total cost of ownership. Position has responsibility for personal computers, email and collaboration systems, and file and print servers throughout enterprise. Lead technical evaluation of new desktop and general end-user systems, and make technical recommendations. Interface with Service Desk, onsite engineering team, IT Operations staff and management, as well as application sponsors. Analyze performance trends, and set course of action for improvement opportunities. Organize regular reviews and status meetings with key support groups and user representatives. Be accountable for financial implications of technical solutions. Successful candidate should have extensive experience with Microsoft desktop and server technologies, infrastructure and email system management, end-user support, and general operational management of technical environment.
