NOC Technician

Company:

A global leader in providing visual, creative and digital services is looking for a Network Operations Center Technician.  This person will, under limited supervision, provide 24/7/365 support for servers and applications in a production e-commerce environment, Ensuring all procedures and processes are up to date and followed. 

 

Open Shifts: Swing Shift (11:00am - 9:30pm): Thursday-Sunday

 Graveyard Shift (9:00pm-7:30am): Thursday-Sunday

 



Contract: 3 Month Contract to Hire.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Monitor production systems, platforms and processes and use tools to troubleshoot and isolate issues.

-Enter new trouble tickets, escalate existing tickets and keep users informed of status.

-Perform metadata and content uploads to staging and production.

-Keep management apprised of all critical issues as per the escalation procedures.

-Keep procedures and troubleshooting links and tools up to date.

-Create reports for internal management use.

-Work with vendors to troubleshoot issues, change passwords, order SSL certificates, etc.

 

Requirements:

-Prior experience working in a NOC environment is preferred.

-Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN and other networking principles.

-Knowledge of both Microsoft Windows Server and Solaris UNIX operating systems with the ability to navigate, manipulate and troubleshoot in both environments. 

-Experience with Internet Information Services (IIS 6.0) is required.

-Previous experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL is required.

-Experience working with infrastructure monitoring applications and other industry standard NOC tools (i.e.  MOM, HPOV, NNM, Big Brother) is helpful.

 

Skills/Abilities: 

-Must be very comfortable with both Windows Server and UNIX systems.

-Must be able to learn new systems quickly and have strong troubleshooting skills.

-Should be very detail oriented and follow procedures.

-Must be a self-starter who is able to multitask and work under pressure with little supervision.

-Effective touch-typing for processing critical real time events.

-Ability to effectively communicate via phone and in writing.

-Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.

-Strong customer service focus and experience required.

 

Minimum Education: AA Degree or equivalent.
