Opportunity: Solutions Designer - Life Sciences
Position Location: Los Angeles or Kansas City Metro
Position Overview:
The Life Sciences team creates innovations and provides solutions for pharmaceutical and medical device market research and development, clinical development and discovery, regulatory and patient safety requirements, health economics, analytics, and surveillance. The Solutions Designer - Life Sciences is a key client-interfacing role within the Life Sciences team, and is broadly responsible for developing and communicating requirements for software solutions for internal and external clients. Specific responsibilities encompass understanding, defining and documenting the vision, functional requirements, and risk analysis of a specific software solution area, and using this knowledge to communicate design parameters to various technical and non-technical team members. The Solutions Designer - Life Sciences is involved with interpreting regulatory and accrediting agency guidelines for solution requirements. Additionally, this role participates in the Cerner sales and marketing process by way of demonstration support, RFP questions, functional requirement verification, release approval, and prioritizing solution needs based on client feedback.
Technical:
- Minimum 4 years experience working with healthcare, or science information systems.
- Proven knowledge of/experience with IT software development life cycles.
- Demonstrated aptitude for requirements management, business/technical writing, organizational skills.
- Logic oriented, with meticulous attention to detail.
Non-Technical:
- Excellent communication skills with proven abilities in developing and facilitating formal client presentations, managing project team and client expectations, and communicating IT technical concepts to non-IT technical team members and/or clinicians.
- Demonstrated project management knowledge and abilities.
- Self-starter, ability to deliver results with minimal supervision.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience
Other:
- Ability to travel 10 to 20%.
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Familiarity with advanced database analysis and reporting tools such as COGNOS, Business Objects, or Crystal Reports.
- Previous experience writing functional specifications for computer systems.
- Previous experience with healthcare organization operations, finance, and quantitative analysis using IT information systems.
