Web Application Developer

Job Description

As the Web Application Developer you will be responsible for the development of our Intranet portal. You should be well versed in the use of CVS and reusable classes for the development of our application. You will be responsible for the database design for our portal project which includes the complete design of database schema.

 

Requirements

* 5-10 years experience in web application development

* Strong object oriented/PHP skills

* Working knowledge of  Linux or BSD

* At  least 2 years experience developing Web applications in a business environment

* Excellent knowledge of SQL programming is also necessary. The candidate should also have some experience administering relational databases such as PostgreSQL, or MySQL (installing database software, updating tables, users, permissions, etc.)

* Degree in Computer Science / Information Systems or equivalent experience

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

* Ability to work in a structured team environment

* Local candidates only. No off-site developers.

* No Visas

* Must be wiling to take an on-site skills test

 

Plusses

* User Interface Design

* Experience with all aspects of the Systems Development Lifecycle including design, development, quality assurance and release management

* Experience with Web technologies such as HTML, DHTML, CSS, AJAX, XML and JavaScript.

 

 

Project Description

The developer will develop a portal that has the following:

 

* Multi-Dimensional Group Access

* LDAP authentication

* Company News

* Discussion Boards - Forums

* User Pages (a bio on each of our co-workers)

* User Surveys

* Documentation Section

* Search Features

* Event Calendar

* Feedback

* Usage Statistics

* And more TBD

 

Admin Section:

* Add and edit news and information

* Send out company-wide mailers

* Edit content

 

Super-User Section:

* Technical control of the portal

 

Additional Project Requirements:

* The portal will have ?modules? that can be turned on or turned off

* New modules can be added to the portal at any time

* Portal will be portable (it can be installed on any server)

* Code will be documented and there will be a site outline

* A user guide will be created

* Security will be built into the application

 

Project Delivery

A turn key product in approximately 3+ weeks

 

Work Environment

Casual dress for the IT department. Our department knows how to let off steam and have fun while maintaining professionalism. No unusual physical demands.

 

Salary: Contract $50 per hour
