The Navy's fleet consists of more than 300 ships and 4100 aircraft and each of them is outfitted with the most sophisticated computer hardware and software equipment available today. Sailors in the Computer field install, operate and maintain the Navy's high-tech systems in order to uphold everyday operations as well as promote national security. Sailors in field detect enemy radar signals, track surface and inbound threats operate satellite telecommunications systems, work with highly-classified encoded information and take readings with weather equipment to generate information about weather and sea conditions.
