Required Education: MSEE with 5 to 8 years of relevant current experience

 

Summary of Job Responsibilities:

 

Key Contributor to System Concepts, Architecture, Design and Specifications

- Develop electronics and hardware concepts, systems requirements and architecture specifications for the Company's A55 AEM and future products

- Work with Department leaders in developing product strategy evolution

- Work with Marketing and Customers to develop machine requirements

- Proactively identify issues and risk factors, and work with team members on contingency plans and alternatives

- Maintain the Company's leading position with regard to the latest PC industry initiatives and developments

- Close involvement with firmware design and development

- Manage hardware design reviews

- Responsible for hardware configuration management, and setting and enforcing corporate procedures and deployment of tools for configuration management

- Create intellectual property adding value to technology portfolio

 

Develop and Implement Company's Hardware and Systems Strategy

- Perform hands-on design and executing of hardware systems strategies down to board level solutions

- Write and control system, subsystem and interface requirements and documentation

- Manage hardware system integration and testing, write test plans and set test limit specifications

- Provide support to firmware engineering in problem isolation, debug and resolution

- Interact with vendors, and manage AVL

- Be responsible for continued functional improvements and cost reductions

- Be responsible for regulatory approvals and EMI/EMC issues

- Assist in the development of tactical and strategic field support plans

 

Manage Outside and Contract Development Engineers

- Work with senior management in evaluation process and cost and schedule tradeoffs in "make or buy" decisions on development projects

- Define, prepare budgets, perform vendor selection, initiate and manage outside development projects

- Set expectations for deliverables and timelines, and ensure that outside development projects are delivered on time and on budget, fully tested, working to spec and exceeding design and budget goal expectations

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Requirements

- Current relevant experience with automatic control technology

- Current experience with linear servomechanism theory and design principles

- Recent experience with advanced automatic control theory, and advanced study of control system components and mathematical models, including amplifiers, DC servomotors, shaft encoders, proximity sensors, and force transducers. 

- Computer-aided analysis, design, and simulation of robotic systems

- Experienced with precision robotic positioning systems, including mechanics (design and structure of manipulators, arms, end-effectors), control (both theory and implementation) and sensors (design of sensor systems and algorithms for data acquisition and analysis)

- Experienced with interfacing to PC systems

- Experience with equipment manufacturing

- Current experience with USB interfaces

- Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) with ability to interface with peers and partners, define project requirements, develop project plans and schedules (MS Office Project), prepare deliverables, and communicate results internally and externally

- Independently motivated and self-managing, with a proactive high-energy leadership style

- Ability to work effectively with product development engineers, marketing and customers/partners
