Security Architect III

The Security Engineer III requires that applicants have strong technology skills. The Security Engineer III participates in user and network security issues across multiple unix platforms (hpux, aix, and linux) in an enterprise of distributed and local systems.  This position analyzes business requests, makes recommendations, and participates in the definition, development and implementation of MIS projects to meet current and long-range goals.  As an industry knowledgeable user, this position educates and interacts with various technical teams to facilitate issue resolution and provide a cross-functional view of secure unix development and management. The Security Engineer III ensures that all aspects of the Longs unix environment meet security best practices and compliance requirements. This position severs as technical resource to the rest of the team, develops administrative documentation, and recommends appropriate policies and user requirements. An immediate challenge and opportunity for this position is in hardening of the company?s unix platform and developing user administration utilities.  As such, the Security Engineer III works closely with others involved in the company?s unix server efforts.

 

BS or higher degree in CS, MIS, or related field or a minimum of 3 years as a Sr. Unix System Administrator or a Directory Administrator.

 

It?s critically important to have strong scripting skills, preferably in Perl.  This position will help us secure and manage our directory and our unix systems while minimizing disruption as much as possible.  The Security Engineer III requires a thorough understanding of TCP/IP services and how we can use TCP wrappers and SSH to get control of our systems.  This position will also be the second-level support for our vulnerability monitoring, alerting, and filtering tools.
