Job Requirements and Description

 

This is a Team ITSS Position with Jacobs Sverdrup.  The candidate must have 6 years progressive programming experience, OR 4 years relevant experience and an Associates Degree in a Technical Discipline or related field, OR 2 years relevant experience and a Bachelors Degree in a Technical Discipline or related field.

 

Other Duties:

 

A programmer is responsible for developing software based on a defined set of design and performance requirements.  A programmer may be called upon to partner with a Business Analyst and/or with customer function managers in the development of requirements.  Programmers must ensure that their developed software meets or exceeds requirements.  Skills specifically include:  At least 2+ years experience using ASP.NET, ASP, C#, HTML, Java, JavaScript, Perl, PL/SQL, Visual Basic, VB.NET, & XML, and designing and developing enterprise web applications and software libraries utilizing ASP.NET, ASP, HTML, JavaScript, ODBC, Perl, SQL Server: DTS Packages, Visual Basic and XML on Windows and/or UNIX operating system platforms.  At least 1+ year experience developing web services and using Web/Application Servers such as Apache, Fatwire, Update Engine, ISS, WebSphere, etc.  Candidate must be able to contribute/provide end to end software project engineering support for moderate to complex projects to include scheduling, source code design, data object modeling and test plan writing; be able to work individually and team projects; define and implement client software life cycle development processes including software development procedures, source code version control and formalized documentation.  Experience developing/using the following software products would be beneficial:  Microsoft Visual Studio.NET, Microsoft Office XP, Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Manager, Macromedia Dreamweaver Ultra Dev, & Macromedia Flash; experience in Oracle Applications design and development using Oracle Tools such as Forms 10g, Reports 10g, SQL, PL/SQL and knowledge of Oracle Applications Object Library ; knowledge of Unix system essentials and Unix shell scripting (Sun/Solaris preferred).  Leadership/Direction & Specific work elements of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: a candidate must be able to provide assistance to junior level developers with application or technical problems; have experience as a member of development teams that have produced moderate to complex applications; have ability to understand documented requirements and translate them to design applications and databases; understand and follow existing local development processes; actively participate in application design, database design, schema layout and data loading; display ability to interact and collaborate on technical issues within a team or department; be involved in preparation of briefings for management and/or the customer; be able to verify accuracy and completeness of systems by preparing sample data and testing; possess excellent written and communication skills; provide outstanding customer support by effectively communicating and working with various levels of Government and contractor personnel.
