Applications Analyst/Programmer

Job Description

Major Responsibilities:
Meets with user management and staff to understand business requirements and to determine system requirements and functional specifications. Provides operational support to the site, handling production problems or user calls. Design systems functional architecture, creates detailed systems design and program specifications. Prepares flowcharts and diagrams to illustrate the logical operations involved. Designs, codes, tests, debugs, documents and maintains those programs. Designs computer terminal screen displays in response to user requests. Assists users in solving operating problems. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or closely related field. Three (3) years experience in data processing programming systems analysis or related area. Technical expertise in site/department specific hardware and software. Knowledge of computer printers, modems, scanners, Fax machines and specialized equipment. Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Skilled in following safety practices, policies, procedures and recognizing hazards. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Visual Basic and DOT.NET programming language required.

Criteria/Conditions(specific background and skills):
Work is mostly performed in an office setting but occasionally required to work in the outdoors or Smelter/manufacturing setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see. Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 25 lbs.) during the course of the workday. Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in the outdoors, Smelter/manufacturing environment including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and other protective equipment.
