Desktop Support

Installs, configures, and maintains organization's desktop systems. Ensures reliable safe and continuous user support of the office technology utilized at ASMA. Performs a variety of tasks including troubleshooting desktop and phone connectivity issues. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Works under immediate supervision. A certain degree of creativity and flexibility is required. Maintains a cohesive and reliable information technology infrastructure supporting some business and mainly office applications. Supports global connectivity for business information users and develops and provides solutions to enable that environment. Is responsible for the successful user deployment and implementation of desktop technology achieving the above stated goals.
Education(List the required minimum schooling and/or training.)
Bachelor's Associatesdegree in Computer Science or IT from an accredited four-year College or University; orand two to four five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. MCDST, A+ and Network+ systems certification necessary or equivalent work experience.
Experience (List the minimum experience requirement or and equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and ability has been achieved.)
1. Demonstrable skill to configure and maintain a Microsoft Windows NT, 2000, XP desktop and network environment is required.
2. Domain configuration and network resource expertise is required.
3. Experience in configuring and maintaining network/mobile phone inventory and patch management support for hardware and software is required.
4. Experience in configuring Avaya telecommunications hardware and software is required.
5. Mobile Phone ordering, management, and support experience is required.
6. Security and infrastructure loss prevention experience is required.
Skills (List only the specific skills necessary to perform the job.)
1. Provide LAN administration support to users and executives including configuring client PC hardware
and software, troubleshooting the same, and act as focal point for PC and LAN/WAN related issues.
2. Keep accurate records of LAN Administration Support customers.
3. Maintain PCs so as to provide a stable, standardized desktop to LAN customers.
4. Installs and reconfigures computer hardware, cable infrastructure and peripheral components.
5. Install shrink wrapped and developed applications on PC clients.
6. Loads specified software packages such as operating systems, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics and C.A.D. programs into computer.

7. Answers inquiries in person and via telephone from users having problems using computer software and hardware or inquiring how to use specific software. Consults with co-workers to research problem and find solution.
8. Diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems. Recommends or performs remedial actions based on knowledge of system operation.
9. Refers major hardware problems to outside repair services for correction.
10. Calls software and hardware vendors to request service for defective products.
11. Tests software and hardware to evaluate ease of use and whether product will aid user in performing work.
12. Recommends microcomputer configurations to satisfy new user requirements
13. Performs routine maintenance operations such as printer ribbon and toner replacement, and the ordering and controlling of an inventory of replacement parts and supplies.
14. Participate in virtual teams as assigned.
15. Administrative duties assigned as required.
16. Must be able to lift 50lbs.



Activities will consist of the performance of the above skills to a high degree with directions from the IT technical lead. May be obligatory to perform more than one task at a time in an orderly fashion. Ability to maintain high tech equipment may be required, as well as any other assigned duties. A weekly report may be a requisite.
