1) Maintain, install, repair and troubleshoot all plant electrical systems and electrical prime movers. Knowledge and skills required, but not limited to, the following:

a) Thorough knowledge of the electrical distribution system affecting the assigned area of responsibility

b) Current knowledge of the latest National Electrical Code.  (It is the electrician?s responsibility to obtain personal copies of the NEC.)  Work completed by the electrician shall conform to the requirements of the latest NEC

c) Install conduit and pull wire

d) Connect, disconnect, and repair induction motor drivers for plant equipment

 

2) Maintain and troubleshoot high voltage primary and secondary distribution systems to include the 21 KV substation,  21KV:4.16KV substations, and 4.16KV:460V distribution centers.  (Major high voltage system repairs shall be contracted at managements? discretion.)

a) Using schematic diagrams of the primary and secondary distribution systems, be able to isolate problem circuits to the breaker, fuse, or cable

b) Maintain currency in, and practice, safe substation entry procedures

c) Troubleshoot electrical problems using the amp and volt meters, relay flags, etc. available on the switchgear

d) Understand the use, and limitations, of high voltage equipment (I.E.  gloves, tick-tracer, hot sticks, etc.)

3) Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair motor control centers (MCC) and all circuit protection devices

 

4) Install, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot variable frequency drives (VFD)

 

5) Maintain, troubleshoot, program, and repair programmable logic controllers (PLC)

 

6) Work from, update, and correct electrical drawings, blueprints, and control diagrams

 

7) Know and understand how test equipment works and when, where and how to use it. Knowledge and skills required, but not limited to, the following:

a) Calibration standards

b) Current probe

c) Volt/ohm/amp meter (multimeter)

d) Wiggies

e) Hand tools
