Mechanical Engineer

 

Summary:  Mechanical Engineer will design and develop mechanisms and enclosures for high volume low cost electronic utility meters.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 Technically lead and/or execute engineering projects.  Interface with internal and external customers regarding mechanical issues for specific project.  Specify, design and develop engineering layouts/schematics and/or detailed drawings/specifications of complex scope in 3D CAD environment.  Define, coordinate, perform, and generate engineering test reports to prove out the mechanical design. Specify and review engineering documentation.

Education/Experience:

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline, with 8+ years of related experience.  Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline, with 5+ years of related experience is highly desirable.  Experience in key technical areas as follows is required:

 

? Strong material science and metallurgy practices such as plating

? Proven track record of designing from concept: mechanisms, plastic enclosures, sheet metal assemblies

? Comprehensive knowledge and experience with designing for serviceability and manufacturability

? Comprehensive knowledge of injection molding practices in high volume, low cost production

? High volume, low cost, product design

? Comprehensive knowledge of the manufacturing environment and processes

? Proven track record of solving difficult problems using traditional and non-traditional approaches

 

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to clearly communicate in the written form.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before management, employees, and outside service providers.
