Position Description:

Chevron North America Exploration & Production (CNAEP) is accepting online applications for an Inspector (0608-50088226) located in Bakersfield, California or other location in the San Joaquin Valley Business Unit through August 18, 2006.

The Inspector conducts mechanical equipment and welding inspection in accordance with standard procedures and established schedules.

Qualifications:

- Conducts all phases of routine repetitive inspections for existing piping systems and facilities. Inspection of repairs and modifications, and inspection of new construction for compliance with specifications, drawings, codes and craftsmanship.
- Prepares inspection reports with recommendations for corrective action. Consults with Maintenance Supervisor, Equipment Inspector, Maintenance Team Leader, or Project Engineer as needed and then reviews reports with operating, maintenance and construction personnel and provides technical counsel on corrective methods and techniques.
- Coordinates equipment repair plans with operating and maintenance personnel.

SPECIAL SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS OR ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS/INFORMATION:

- Certified Level 2 in MT, PT, UT and VT, AWS SWI required.
- Relocation benefits will not be considered.

Competent in interpreting Company Inspection Policy, State, and Federal regulations, ASME, ANSI, API, AWS, NFPA, and Corporate Practices.

Facilities Experience: Experience in existing piping systems and facilities and new construction for compliance with specifications, drawings, codes and craftsmanship. Employs optimization tools and processes such as Lean Sigma to improve reliability & reduce opex.

Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally at all levels inside and outside of the organization. Communicates regularly with Equipment Inspector, Field Engineers, Operations Supervisors, Construction Representatives and Head Operators.

Teamwork: Fosters cooperation and collaboration to improve business results. Must be able to develop and maintain a positive working relationship with Operations personnel, peers, engineers, and contractors. Track record of adopting best practices from other organizations.

Reliability and Maintenance: Support Work Management Process - Scheduling, Scoping and Pm / Pdm development. Ability to prepare inspection reports with recommendations for corrective action. Review reports with operating, maintenance and construction personnel and coordinate equipment repair plans providing technical counsel on corrective methods and techniques.
