Lead Engineer - Distribution Asset Management

This position will be the primary Distribution Asset Management contact for the North Coastal region. This position will report to the Manager-Distribution Asset Performance.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Primary responsibilities are distribution planning, operational management, and project consulting/support.

Distribution Planning tasks include area load forecasts, contingency studies, economic analysis, program management, and risk analysis. Operational management tasks include VAR support, contingency overload conditions, phase imbalance, and fault location and analysis. Incumbent is engineering technical reference for region staff.

*Lead analysis of reliability performance in the region. Drive improvement by understanding the specific factors responsible for above or below target performance. Initiate action within existing reliability program options to effect performance drivers and achieve targets. Recommend actions outside existing program options when appropriate. Identify the potential for achieving target performance at a cost below budgeted funding levels and take action to quantify and capture savings.

*Lead the analysis and planning of system expansion needs for the region. Understand magnitude and timing of load increases and initiate action to build for known overloads. Mitigate operational risk from emergent loading issues.

*Support distribution storm plan with damage assessment, crew coordination, and other support activities.

Is able to deal with standardized situations, apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions, and consider variations in sequence of procedures based on situations encountered in the work setting.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Ability and commitment to apply for and pass the Professional Engineering licensing requirements to include the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and the Professional Engineer exam as soon as practical.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Candidates should possess strong communications and interpersonal skills in order to facilitate customer contact activities and further professional development.

Lead level.  Coaches and communicates with other team members to implement objectives.  Plans and assigns personnel for projects and tasks.  Independently performs assignments with instruction limited to results expected. Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET or equivalently accredited school and 7+ years professional experience.
