Meter Technician

?

Under general supervision, performs journeyman level work in the installation, maintenance, calibration, testing and repairing of electric meters and associated equipment and/or electric current diversion investigations.? Job requires in-depth knowledge of electrical and electronic theory and application. Solves complex problems and identifies and recommends responses. Regular contact with individuals in other work groups and individuals in leadership positions both inside and outside the organization is required to plan, coordinate or advise on work efforts or to solve operating problems.

OPEN REQUIREMENTS:

?High School diploma or equivalent;

?Successful completion of a certified apprenticeship program or JEA?s Meter Trainee program

?A minimum of three (3) years of journeyman level experience performing electric utility commercial meter installation, maintenance and testing; and

?

Successful completion of at least seven (7) of the following college courses:

?Trigonometry (required)

?English Composition I (required)

?DC/AC Theory

?Digital Fundamentals

?Solid State Devices

?Solid State ? Analog Circuit Analysis

?Electrical ? Electronic Control Systems

?Microprocessor Fundamentals

?Microcomputer Systems Troubleshooting

LICENSING/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:?

?A valid driver?s license is required prior to employment and must be maintained during employment in this classification.

?

?A valid Class ?B? Commercial Driver?s License is required within sixty (60) days of appointment and must be maintained while employed in this classification.

?
