Nuclear Assessor, Maintenance / Work Management

Primary Purpose of Position:
Provide leadership and technical expertise to the team of professionals conducting Audits or Assessments for functional areas (Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Plant Support) including Corporate Audits. Provide assistance in the development of audit/assessment strategic plans, schedules, and performance measurement including fleet reports to ensure comprehensive and timely oversight. Assures, based on type of oversight being conducted, that applicable regulatory requirements and commitments are met.


Major Accountabilities:
Conducts or participates in comprehensive assessments of corporate and site organizations to assure program adequacy and implementation effectiveness. Conducts assessment preparation including development of required checklists and writing final reports.

Performance of Quality Verification (QV) inspections on an as needed basis under direction of a QV Level III Inspector.

Provides direction to the audit or assessment team members to ensure effective communication of all deficiencies encountered during the oversight conducted.

Track and follow-up deficiencies and findings identified during audits or assessments. Analyzes findings/issues/non-conformances identified during audits or assessments to determine program quality and identify performance trends. This analysis includes all available oversight results, both internal and external, and trending data. Results are communicated to senior management.

Provides written and verbal briefings to regulatory agencies and Exelon Nuclear senior management regarding the scope, status, and conclusions of audits or assessments.

Provides input into improvements for the audit or assessment program. This input would include recommendation for the scoping, scheduling, and conduct of audits or assessments.

Assures through research, communication, and industry knowledge that current regulatory requirements, codes and standards are utilized to effectively prepare and conduct audits/assessments.

Perform special assignments as assigned.

Plans and leads assessment activities in a specific area, function, or process. Review audit and assessment results to evaluate adequacy of programs and implementation effectiveness. Determine if an audit or assessment finding should be issued. Determine if, based on severity of identified issues, stop work of the program is required or recommended. Some individuals in this role may be assigned collateral duties as an Employee Concerns Site Representative.

Evaluate team performance during the preparation, conduct, and report generation for audits and assessments and provide feedback to appropriate management. The individual providing oversight of inspection activities shall be capable of supervising, planning, and coordinating daily and outage maintenance/modification QV activities including the development of schedules for shift coverage, manpower requirements and overtime, and managing the department in a cost effective manner.

This position could be a line rotational assignment.


Position Requirements:
REQUIRED:
BS (Technical or Science) with minimum 5 years experience in power plant design, operations, maintenance, or other nuclear related activities with at least 2 years being equivalent supervisory/experienced management level technical or quality assurance related.

-or-Minimum 10 years experience in power plant design, operations, maintenance, or other nuclear related activities with at least 2 years being equivalent supervisory/experienced management level technical or quality assurance related.

Demonstrated ability to interface with Senior Station Management and clearly communicate issues.

Lead Auditor Certification (preferred within one year of assignment).

Education/Experience as required to satisfy ASME/ANS 3.2. for a Supervisor Not Requiring a License or ANSI 45.2.6, ASME NQA-1 equivalent at least one year nuclear experience.

Additional Requirements for ISEG Function:BS Engineering and minimum 8 years experience, 5 of which are at a commercial nuclear facility

QV Requirements: Currently have or have held a Level I or Level II QV weld inspection qualification and one other method (mechanical, electrical or civil) qualification(s) per ASME NQA-1 and ANSI/ASME N45.2.6.

PREFERRED:
Holds or has previously held a position in Maintenance or Work Management.

QV: Currently have or have held a Level II QV weld inspection qualification and one other method (mechanical, electrical, civil) qualification(s) per ASME NQA-1 and ANSI/ASME N45.2.6
