About the Opportunity This Planner/Scheduler - Electric Substation provides support to Supervisors by planning and scheduling the activities, manpower, equipment, materials, tools, work package instructions, etc. required to operate, maintain, or construct substation, ducted network and conventional underground facilities. Responsible for all aspects of day-to-day planning and scheduling of work activities to meet in-service dates. Defines the specific construction and maintenance work activities and manpower required to complete a work request. Coordinates requirements for material, equipment, special tools, switching orders, and permits to establish work commitment dates and takes steps to expedite delivery when necessary and/or practical. Assists Supervisors to establish job start and completion dates. Maintains a firm two-week plan in CREWS system. Develops standardized reports outlining capital projects and scheduled maintenance over various time frames aimed at improving project management, productivity and resource allocation. Assists Manager in the development of annual workplan and budget. Prepares job contingency plans. Provides management with weekly updates of the backlog of work and section productivity. Performs pre-construction assessment on work requests to facilitate optimal resource utilization. Performs post-construction assessment on completed work requests. Assist as needed during emergency activities such as major storms. Works with internal and external customers for inquiries concerning construction and maintenance activities. Maintain effective relations with customers, employees, and community. Develop and implement process improvements to improve customer service. Able to work extra and irregular hours. Gather and coordinate technical data in planning through SAP and the CREWS System. Display effective leadership and teamwork skills.
Qualifications
Required
Associate degree in engineering technology or related discipline and knowledge of/ability to learn substation, ducted network and conventional underground construction and maintenance procedures, work methods, equipment to perform construction and maintenance work.
Working knowledge of Electrical Engineering principles, substation construction methods and experience in operation and construction of transmission and distribution systems.
Ability to obtain knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements as well as knowledge of current labor agreement.
Skills in the development, collection, organization, and analysis of information from a variety of sources to develop reports on section backlog and productivity.
Skills to effectively interpret work requests, engineering drawings, schematics, equipment instruction manuals, standards, and procedures to develop accurate work plans.
Knowledge of the procedures and processes for the acquisition of materials, equipment, and tools; knowledge of or ability to learn SAP, CREWS, SDCS and AM/FM. Must be proficient in Lotus Notes, Excel, Word, Power Pont, Access, and other personal computer applications.
Must have the ability to learn basic substation design and construction, and the application of Company construction standards and practices.
Oral/written communications skills to effectively communicate regarding construction and maintenance of substation facilities.
Interpersonal skills necessary to operate in a team or consensus decision-making environment, and possess the ability to make quick assessment and deliver sound decisions when situations arise requiring independent judgment.
Must have knowledge of accident prevention and the ability to work safely.
Must be able to effectively multi-task concurrent projects without constant supervision.
Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a personal vehicle. Must be able to travel.
