Project Engineer

This position will require time at Progress Energy's Crystal River site.

Provide technical leadership and project management support through various phases of power plant projects (siting, licensing, engineering, construction and commissioning), under the general direction of the Manager of Project Engineering.  Take lead on resolving technical issues with outside contractors/equipment suppliers through collaboration with internal resources.  Make informed decisions on engineering issues/methods that are cost effective and of high quality. 

- Significant major power generation experience with equipment, services, contracts, specification/procurement, and/or operations.  Preferred experience related to combined cycle plants
- Experience with power plant design and estimating tools (i.e. GTPro, Gatecycle or equivalent)
- Knowledge of current environmental and regulatory issues regarding power plant design
- Proven experience collaborating in a large, diverse professional organization.
- Project management experience (preferred)
- PE license (preferred)
- Experience with plant repowering projects (preferred)

 

Career level.  Fully competent in use of both principles and application.  Works independently on tasks/projects with limited supervision.  Receives guidance only unusual or complex projects or issues.  Identifies problems and possible solutions and takes appropriate action for resolution.  Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 5+ years professional experience.
