Safety Coordinator

JOB TITLE: Safety Coordinator, REPORTS TO: Safety Manager

JOB SUMMARY:  This is a support position responsible for assisting the Safety Manager in developing, coordinating and monitoring the safety program for state wide Divisions.  The Safety Coordinator will: set a standard by leading by example; ensure the documentation of accidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions/activities, and ensure the implementation of corrective actions; review the documentation for completeness, accuracy and compliance with established procedures; recommend necessary updates to safety and health programs. Perform safety audits and provide recommendations for worker?s compensation and property loss reduction; provide safety and health services, such as training, attending and coordinating safety meetings, conduct equipment and facilities audits and reviews, and providing recommendations to local management.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

People RelatedWork with division personnel to comply with safety and health requirements.Assist managers and supervisors to address employee safety and health concerns.Work with division managers and supervisors to enforce company policies and procedures.Monitor the safety and health performance level of each division and recommend improvements.

 

Service Related 

? Communicate with managers and supervisors regarding proper execution of procedures, policies and paperwork.Assist supervisors and managers with inspections, investigations, and safety presentations.Assist with proper compliance with safety and health procedures.Assist with safety and health training of division personnel.

 

Performance RelatedOver night travel (30% estimated) and on call as needed.  Contribute to the development of polices, procedures and controls for safety and health.Contribute to the continued development and improvement of safety and health.Review statistical injury and accident information make recommendations on noticeable trends.Prepare an annual report for management on the overall safety and health performance of the divisions.

 

EDUCATION:

? Bachelor?s Degree preferred.  

? Associate Degree acceptable with relevant experience.

 

EXPERIENCE: 

? Two years of safety and health field experience with a natural gas or propane utility is required.

 

OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED: 

? Proficient with computerized systems including Excel, Word and Outlook

? Strong organizational skills; ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written)

? Strong problem solving skills

? Strong interpersonal communication skills and attention to detail

? Ability to perform multiple tasks and meet deadlines and schedules

? Standup presentation skills

? Perform other job duties as needed
