This position is located at Gulf Power's Crist Electric Generating Plant in Pensacola
FL . The Utilityperson safely performs any work normally or reasonably required in this classification. This is an entry-level physically demanding position. Utilitypersons perform basic skills such as, incidental motor vehicle operation, operating a forklift for non-warehouse duties, operating a lawnmower, floor sweeper, or using hand tools for work such as removing or replacing a mower blade or transformer lid. The Utilityperson also performs assignments such as washing, mowing, weed eating, trimming, cleaning company vehicles, driving trucks to pick up supplies and/or make deliveries, assists journeymen, and house-keeping duties.

This position requires experience performing physically demanding work and using hand tools. Our ideal candidate will have at least two years of construction, maintenance, manufacturing, military, or electrical experience.

Must meet reasonable qualification standards for this type of work, be able and willing to accept the usual responsibilities associated with the work and be competent to safely perform the duties of the job. Ability to work shift work including weekends and holidays is required. Availability for call-out and overtime is required. Must be able to maintain weight under 280 lbs.

Utilitypersons must perform satisfactorily in intensive on-site training programs to prepare for higher skilled positions such as welder-mechanic, electrician, plant equipment operator, warehouseman, and heavy coal equipment operator. They follow safety procedures and precautions, and wear safety glasses, ear plugs, hard hats, site specific foot wear (heavy duty work shoes, steeltoes, or dielectric boots), cotton clothing, and a coal dust mask or respirator, if required for the task.
