Position reports to Webmaster, Marketing Manager



 

Commerce Energy?s Web Developer is responsible for assisting in the technical activities that support the efforts of the corporate Webmaster to update, manage, and maintain the company?s Web sites, both internal and external. This role, as a technical expert, requires a deep knowledge of the various Web coding methodologies and design techniques to support departmental and business group requirements.  It demands technical proficiency, design and usability sense, attention to detail, dealing with personnel at various levels within the organization, managing multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously, as well as helping to drive the integration of modern techniques and technologies into the company?s Web presences.

 

Duties include: Work with the Webmaster to provide technical support for the Web component of the rollout of upcoming marketing projects and campaigns Maintain the current Web site and respond to requests for updates and changes on a regular basisAssist in migrating and linking Web enrollment data into existing internal systems, including the OEM system and othersAid in the development of metrics and Web reporting for sales reports and presentations Aid in the planning and technical design of a new external Web site and internal intranet site for the company in the futureKeep the Webmaster informed of issues, concerns, and problems, as well as provide technical troubleshooting-when needed Manage the technical deliverables and objectives for the Web in line with management?s expectations and the department?s deadlinesDevelop and maintain close working relationships with internal clients, especially the internal IT and operations groups Assist in the investigation of external vendors for Web services and support Listen to and accurately capture internal client needs and concerns to develop technical solutions that lead to improvements for the Web sites

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required:Excellent technical skills in Web technologies for both Internet and Intranet applications Strong written and verbal skills Graphic design experience with portfolio Experience with In design, Adobe, Corel and Quark Strong people and team player skills Excellent Web design and usability experience, including the application of techniques using Photoshop Illustrator and Flash for the Web Strong knowledge of database applications for Web sites Excellent Web coding and programming skills, particularly in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Strong knowledge of server-based technologies, including SQL server, Active Server pages, server-side-includes (SSI) Strong knowledge of Microsoft Web applications, including Visual Basic (for Web), and Microsoft technologies, including SharePoint and upcoming ?Live Services?Ability to develop and deliver technical solutions to common business challenges and problemsStrong troubleshooting and problem resolution skillsExperience working with Affinity programs a plus
