Electrical Designer

Description: Electrical Designer This position can be located in either Birmingham, AL or Atlanta, GA.

In this position you will be a Designer for fossil/hydro plant projects. Some of the responsibilities for this position include:

Development, preparation, checking and/or coordination of designs, design drawings, and other documents required for plant electrical systems, or components in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
Reviews and/or coordinates review of vendor design documents to ensure conformance to design requirements. Responsible for preparing and overseeing electrical power system design including single line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, layout and circuitry design. Will be required to assist with checkout and start up when necessary.

Education & Work Experience:
2 or 4 year Technical Degree with emphasis in Computer Aided Engineering (preferably AutoCAD) and electrical systems and equipment would be a plus.

Should have experience in Electrical System Design Must demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the physical and circuitry aspects of electrical design. Experience with computer applications, control systems and associated equipment is desired. 3D modeling of electrical systems is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Extensive knowledge of electrical system design required. Operational knowledge of plant operations, electrical auxiliaries and CAE methods is needed. Considerable knowledge of AutoCAD is required. Must have excellent problem solving, analytical and interpersonal/communication skills. Utilization of spreadsheets and databases are required.
