Environmental Health and Safety Manager

Summary:

 

Directs the implementation of the company?s environmental, health and safety program to establish and maintain a safe and healthy work environment and ensure compliance with regulatory authorities.

 

Essential Functions of the Job:

 

? Coordinates detailed technical activities involved with the management, use and disposal of hazardous materials and chemicals. 

? Conducts site investigations; prepares reports and facilitates activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures.

? Provides for the collection, transportation and storage of hazardous waste and materials.

? Develops health and safety programs for various facets of the organization and performs activities to promote maintenance of safe and healthy working conditions through department supervisors.

? Recommends measures to reduce or eliminate industrial accident and health hazards.

? Ensures compliance with OSHA regulations.

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

? Bachelor?s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Science or related field

? 2+ years of related experience

? Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

? Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Internet applications is required

? Leadership skills, assertiveness, initiative, planning/organizing and follow-up/monitoring. 

 

Minimum requirements are a Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science or

related field plus 3 years experience. Responsibilities include Environmental

permitting including but not limited to MACT, NPDES (storm water), SARA, air

emissions, and management of hazardous wastes; managing Workers Comp

program; managing Safety and Health programs including but not limited to

required training, recordkeeping, inspections, documented safety programs, and

hazard abatement; monitoring facility and processes for adherence to OSHA

guidelines and the elimination of industrial accidents; and compliance with

regulatory agencies including OSHA, EPA, and ADEM
