Maintenance Engineer - Cement

Holcim (US) Inc., one of the nation?s largest manufacturers and distributors of cement and mineral components has openings for self-starting, results-oriented, experienced Maintenance Engineers for our Southeast Region to be located in Artesia, MS, Holly Hill, SC or Birmingham, AL.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a minimum of 5 years of engineering in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment; cement or lime industry is preferred.  These Maintenance Engineers, with a desire and drive for continuous improvement, will possess good leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills in a "team" setting; able to facilitate the collaboration of employees in process teams; demonstrated strong planning and organizational skills; detail oriented; make sound decisions based on a thorough analysis of available data/information, and follows up on critical issues; able to clearly convey information and ideas to individuals or groups; maintain effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work tasks or work environment; initiate action to achieve goals beyond what is required, is innovative and cost and safety conscious in approach to process improvement; demonstrate technical proficiency for area of responsibility and the ability to translate technical information to non-technical staff.

 

Responsibilities for this critical maintenance team member are to manage and supervise specialty services for the plant including conditioned based maintenance (CBM), preventive maintenance, and lubrication; assist in continuous improvement of the cement manufacturing process; analyze equipment failures to determine causes; develop and recommend solutions; perform structural and mechanical design; conduct economic and operational feasibility studies on proposed modifications and/or additions; project management for modifications for equipment reliability improvements as required; establish baseline CBM data as needed to help ensure the success of new installations and modifications; work with vendors to establish lube routines in SAP for new equipment installations; be a resource to process area teams for training, technical assistance, follow-up and troubleshooting; gather information and costs from suppliers; interface with contractors utilized in modification work, including solicitation of bids, selection, and field direction; maintain, organize, and prepare drawings as required; assist in the preparation of the plant budgeting process and focus on defined KPI's; responsible for safety and housekeeping as it pertains to specialty maintenance services; availability to provide engineering support to a 24 hour operation.
