Mechanical Engineer

Description of Duties :Our client is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to come in and work on a design flaw. This is a thermal lens used for surveillance cameras. Two pieces of glass are integrated with an aluminum frame. They want to increase the tolerances from several tens to several hundreds. In addition to the tolerances they are also concerned about cost and ease of assembly. It's as big as a big coffee cup. The materials are aluminum and a rubber o-ring. Special Skills (Must Have)Looking for someone to review the mechanical design which exists for some optical assemblies. The design needs to have an in depth review to include tolerance analysis and manufacturability. Optics is not a must however an understanding and experience of working with manufacturing tolerances of less than .001in. is required.Must have SolidWorks experience, have understanding of Design for Manufacturing, (DFM), Tolerance of Materials, DTC Design Cost. This person is needed for a project. Must have understanding of tolerances of metal; will be working with lenses.
