Process Metallurgist

CMC Steel Alabama has two openings for  Process Metallurgists as part of the Quality Assurance and Business Improvement Department.  The Process Metallurgist will work closely in support of the steelmaking operations and customer service departments.

 

Essential Job Functions

? Provide technical support for operations, customer service, and maintenance departments.

? Investigate and respond to customer quality issues.

? Respond to product inquiries and product capability requests.

? Develop reports on quality performance and process capability.

? Perform internal quality audits.

? Take part in customer visits to our plant or at the customer?s plant as needed.

? Develop and maintain work practices for chemical analysis, mechanical testing, product quality acceptance, and operations.

Requirements

? B.S. degree in Metallurgical/Materials Engineering or Materials Science

 

Minimum Requirements

? Demonstrated experience in project work both as a team member and team leader

? Strong written and verbal communication skills

? Ability to manage simultaneous projects

? Strong computer skills and a good understanding of computer systems

? Preferred Requirements Knowledge of statistics and process control methods

? Knowledge of steelmaking
