Position Summary:

The Environmental, Health & Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing the implementation of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs for the Valencia facility.  Responsible to recognize, advise, consult and report to management and employees concerning any EHS situations/conditions and recommend corrective measures to meet compliance. This position is responsible for ensuring the facility complies with all local, state, federal, and corporate guidelines as they pertain to EHS functions. This position works with the east coast EHS Department to insure alignment with established practices. Act as system champion for EHS management systems. Track EHS performance, monitor trends, and facilitate corrective actions as needed.  Works with site management teams to integrate Environment, Health & Safety performance into facility operations.

Provides leadership to drive continuous improvement in Environment, Health & Safety performance, while assuring comprehensive operational compliance.

Ensures EHS training and communications are developed and delivered. 
Takes lead role for EHS program areas and projects in specialized areas, such as: industrial hygiene, safety, ergonomics, process safety, environmental compliance, EHS inspections, fire protection, loss control, and hazardous waste management. Has a leadership role in setting the EHS standards and direction of the company.

 

Position Requirements:

Requires 8 + years hands-on experience working in the pharmaceutical research and development industry.  Experience in the manufacturing environment a plus.

Degree in Engineering, Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Occupational Health or equivalent, with Post Graduate Diploma in related field a plus.

Strong current working knowledge of Federal and CA EH&S regulatory aspects.

Knowledge of policies, strategies, and systems needed to implement an EH&S function.

Strong leadership, interpersonal, strategic thinking/planning, communication, and  collaboration skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Power Point.

Excellent communication and writing skills.

Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
