Senior EH&S Specialist

Job Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor Degree in an environmental or safety related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience,  A minimum of eight years of experience performing analysis, consulting, and developing recommendations on complex EHS issues.  This position requires extensive technical knowledge regarding EHS regulatory requirements, EHS management systems, EHS training, and best practices.  He/she must have demonstrated the ability to manage and direct cross-functional teams to address and solve business and technical issues.  The candidate must have the ability to consult with key stakeholders, provide direction and make strategic decisions regarding changing project scope, policy and program development, implementation and controls.  This position requires the ability to communicate ideas and information effectively through oral presentations and written communications to diverse audiences.  Must have demonstrated ability to plan organize, and prioritize workload to meet critical deadlines, and must be able to adjust to changing priorities with minimal supervision.  The candidate must be proficient in the use of computer applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills to interface with all levels of employees within SCE.

 

Preferences:
Masters degree in field related to environmental sciences, safety, or engineering.  Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist or Certified Professional Environmental Auditor.

 

Typical Responsibilities:
This position will report to the Manager of EHS Compliance in the Corporate EHS organization.  This position would have responsibilities for developing project plans, compliance programs and materials, EHS training materials, and assisting business units in the implementation of programs, plans, and training for new or revised EHS requirements.  They will also ensure that Corporate and BU EHS initiatives achieve expected results and are coordinated to ensure the best use of resources to meet EHS requirements.  This requires three core skill sets: technical expertise in EHS; project management and EHS program development skills; ability to lead Corporate/BU EHS teams.  He/she is also expected to provide technical expertise, make recommendations, and provide support to internal and external customers.  The successful candidate will work collaboratively to develop and implement solutions to complex EHS problems and initiatives that require advanced EHS skills and knowledge.
