Tech Environmental Svcs I

Overview : The primary purpose of this position is to perform all cleaning related functions, in assigned areas, according to facility and departmental policies, in order to ensure the safety, health, and morale of our patients, visitors and staff, by helping to provide a clean, safe, and aesthetic environment with minimal interference to others. Must support and exhibit good customer relation skills and follow all safety regulations. Performs all related duties as required. Follows safety standards in all aspects of performance of the above functions, reports/removes unsafe equipment, and attends safety education sessions.

Responsibilities :

1. Performs a variety of assigned cleaning tasks, to include dusting, mopping, disinfecting, vacuuming and polishing. Must plan the completion of these tasks daily.

2. Cleaning and preparation of discharge or transfer units in a timely manner. In addition, will clean all VRE or MRSA isolation rooms, which requires special gowning and cleaning procedures specific to these infectious elements. Must maintain proper Infection Control cleaning standards at all times.

3. Emptying and transporting of soiled linen hampers, and regular trash removal. Emptying all medical waste, including needles.
4. Inventory, restock and replenish supplies, i.e.: toilet tissue, paper towels, hand soap, etc. Located in all areas of the facility.
5. Performs special projects such as: window washing, wall washing, removing heavily soiled patient use items, includes cubicle curtains, re-hanging clean cubicle curtains, setting up meeting rooms, etc. May be required to perform Tech II duties as necessary.

Qualifications :

Two (2) years hospital environmental services experience desired. Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs. with assistance, push and pull 400+ lbs. on rolling wheels, prolonged standing, walking, kneeling, stooping. Must be able to read and write English and possess general arithmetic skills.
