Executive Director

The Scaffold Industry Association (SIA) serves nearly 1000 members engaged in the manufacture, supply and use of scaffold and access equipment internationally.  Its mission is to ensure that those who make, install, depend on or govern the use of access tools and equipment pursue the highest standards of safety, craftsmanship and ethics.  Founded in 1973, this 501(c)(3) non-profit association guides and strengthens the access industry by advocating on behalf of its members, and creating educational and training materials.  Composed of 28 North American Chapters and 12 International Councils, the SIA association office is located in Phoenix, Arizona.

Summary 

The primary roles of the Executive Director will be to (1) implement the association?s Strategic Plan, (2) manage all aspects of the operation of the association including all outreach, major national and numerous local programs and stewardship of an operating plan of less than $1M, (3) perform supervision and staff development of 5 professional team members, (4) oversee and improve member services; and (5) advocate on behalf of the membership to regulatory agencies and related construction associations.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

? Oversee all membership services, accounting, program development, alliance and advocacy work to meet the Strategic Plan goals and achieve the association?s Operating Plan (budget)

? Communicate key results and issues to Executive Committee regularly

? Design programs to expand member services and product and service offerings

? Create Operating Plan.

? Protect SIA?s strategic interests.

? Maintain liaison with SIA members, non-member customers and prospective alliance partners. 

? Collect and share market intelligence, member concerns and opportunities with Executive Committee

? Actively represent SIA in regulatory, alliance/partner associations and industry venues.

? Other duties may be assigned.



 

Qualifications: 

? Four year college degree in Business, Organizational Management or equivalent.

? Minimum three to five years experience managing a non-profit construction or safety association

? Excellent written and oral communication skills with capability to broadcast intent through traditional and online media

? Demonstrated ability to engage regulatory agencies constructively and successfully achieve member needs

? Proven ability to develop innovative solutions and achieve results directly and via staff positions in an ambiguous environment

? In depth knowledge of Microsoft Office, primarily Excel and Quickbooks

? Experience in monthly and quarterly financial reporting

? Experience in association tax return preparation and audit processes

? Willingness and ability to travel 50%
