Product Team Director - Microanalysis

The person in this position will provide team leadership for product development projects, product management and marketing functions related to Thermo Electron?s microanalysis product line which includes Micro EDS and Micro XRF technologies. This person will be responsible for managing the activities of the cross-functional team, providing supervision for team members. In addition, this person will be responsible for the successful management of the products supported by the team. This involves developing pricing for the products, as well as working with the sales organizations to provide training and support. The successful candidate will be accountable for managing resource allocations to ensure the timely completion of the highest priority projects. Along with other product team leaders, this person will participate in shaping divisional strategy and operating plans. Other tasks include maintaining and updating competitive / geographical product performance analysis and SWOT tables for the products supported by the team. Finally, this person will participate in budgeting team expenses as part of the generation of the annual operating plan. Other duties will be assigned.

A bachelor?s degree in chemistry, physical science or engineering discipline is required; an advanced degree with emphasis on spectroscopy or engineering is preferred. In addition, an MBA or equivalent executive business education is a plus. Candidate must have 5-7 years of relevant business experience within a manufacturing or distribution business for laboratory analysis equipment and financial understanding sufficient to evaluate cost accounting and return implications for potential projects. This person must be process-oriented with demonstrated attention to details, and be teamwork-oriented with a collaborative style. The ability to successfully create clear actionable objectives and facilitate career planning for team members is a must, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Candidates must be willing to travel 35% annually.
