Description
Partner with the US R&D Departments, project teams and Program Directors to support the development and timely submission of budgets, forecasts and monthly actuals in accordance with corporate policy.

Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the development and timely submission of the Shire Research & Development budgets and forecasts in accordance with corporate policy and the Strategic Therapeutic Area Teams (STAT) Model.
- Providing financial support as needed to Program Directors and R&D Business Partners in order to complete accurate and timely forecast and budgets.
- Loading R&D budgets and forecast into SAP R3 and verifying that the transfer into Hyperion Financial Management / Hyperion Planning is correct.
- Conducting a rigorous monthly close process with the assistance of a Financial Analyst.
- Supporting a rigorous monthly budget/forecast to actual review process including the identifying and explaining material budget/forecast vs. actual variances, assessing the impact of actual variances on the financial forecast, and reviewing and drafting the summary financial package that is distributed to senior management.
- Ensuring that accurate monthly accruals are made for R&D activities according to company policies, including functional overhead and project expenses.
- Working with Shared Services to verify and reconcile inter-company charges as necessary.
- Providing R&D information and financials to the cross-functional STAT, R&D Management and R&D Budget Holders in cooperation with the Senior Finance Manager.
- Maintaining and adjusting Cost Center and Internal Hierarchies in SAP and BW that meet the business needs of R&D. Coordinate any changes with Group Finance to ensure these changes are properly reflected in Hyperion Financial Management / Hyperion Planning.
- Design and maintain BW reports as needed to support the R&D and STAT business.

Education and Experience Requirements
- A Bachelor?s degree is required, preferably with an accounting, finance or economics major.
- Experience with financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting for a manufacturing concern(s) is required. That same experience supporting R&D in a regulated environment, i.e. pharmaceutical, biopharmaceuticals, medical devices, is strongly preferred.
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience, or an MBA/CPA plus at least 3 years of relevant experience, is required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook, Excel, and Word is required.
- Experience using SAP, especially SAP/BW is preferred.
- Experience using Hyperion Financial Management / Hyperion Planning is preferred.
