Mortgage Originator-Outside (1105)

Job Description: Basic Function: Responsible for originating permanent FHA/VA and conventional residential mortgage loans and participates in related business development activities.
Responsibilities:
Solicits residential first mortgages through contacts with Realtors, builders, and developers. Interviews applicants to develop information concerning their needs, desires, and earnings to assist in determining whether the loan will be an acceptable risk; obtains and analyzes pertinent financial and credit data. Negotiates terms and conditions of loan with mortgagors. Keeps informed of trends and developments in the local real estate, as well as the changing rules and regulations pertaining to both private and government-insured mortgages. Calls on potential or existing customers as assigned to develop new business or retain existing business. The incumbent works under general supervision. The position requires extensive external contacts (potential and existing customers, Realtors, etc.), as well as internal contacts (other Bank personnel).
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent in work experience. Two to three years mortgage origination experience. General knowledge of personal computers and software programs utilized by Residential Mortgage Department. Thorough knowledge of FHA/VA regulations, conventional loan requirements and real estate law. Proven sales ability. Strong mathematical skills. Ability to interact with individuals at all income levels and peers in a professional manner. Demonstrated ability to work independently and to follow through on details to completion. Willingness to spend over 80% of week on sales calls outside office.
